The magazine Consumer Reports GPS team was eager to see what the consumer Electornics Show (CES) should provide the GPS market in 2010. Most manufacturers have chosen not to announce new portable navigation devices (PND), but the promise of new releases in the coming months. Although there is plenty of new models, innovative features were exposed, with a theme of accessorizing appliances.

TomTom is one of the few producers to announce a new PND, and laminates for the new installation of TomTom. (See: "TomTom GPS facilitating the entry-level PND that changes color.") The plant was designed to simplify the overall GPS experience, while retaining the main features of TomTom. TomTom has always offered a bit 'personalization allows users to install a variety of celebrity and novelty items for the navigation instructions. AISE customize a step further by offering the unit is in a black box or white, but more interesting is the willingness to change covers offered in a variety of colors similar to those for the launch of TomTom (an exclusive model for the European market) .

CYDL is a new market entrant PND, and have highlighted the T43H. Should sell for $ 249, the T43H has a 4.3 inch wide screen, video player, MP3Player and image viewer. He also claims to be the first navigation system with built-in HD Radio, which includes HD Radio Traffic. This real-time data would be 10 times faster than FM-based services that we have seen on the main traffic, capable of PND. The radio and traffic service requires no subscription fees.

Keeping in line with the theme accessory CYDL offers a single add-on as a "black box", known as the BX-1. The BX-1 is expected to sell for $ 149 and is equipped with a camera and a sensor for shock. He constantly updates every 30 seconds to take a course of events video while driving. E 'can detect an incident with the use of shock sensors, data retention of 15 seconds before and after impact. (Images are stored on an SD card.) An accessory like this can be useful when dealing with insurance companies and, possibly, where the violation of a conflict of traffic.

Not to be outdone, Garmin also has some accessories at CES. A fun addition to a nüvi is the ability to add voice prompts family and friends with the new Garmin Voice Studio. Applying Voice Studio is installed on a user's PC, and leads the user through a series of sentences that can be modified and reviewed the application. (The application is for computers running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later operating system.) Garmin Voice Studio does not provide text-to-voice recordings. See compatible models Nuvi.

More exciting than the studio's announcement of new HD FleetWise Garmin, which transforms a part of their browser nüvi portable automotive diagnostic tool and can serve as a device to save fuel. This device plugs into a vehicle diagnostic (OBD II) port found on vehicles built since 1996 and that wirelessly transmits performance data for the NDP, including engine speed, the flow of fuel and emissions. Performance information can be displayed on the nüvi different customizable screens, but also and above all helps the driver to accurately track the effectiveness with which they lead. (See "Garmin PND FleetWise HD becomes a diagnostic tool.")

We look forward to new models and innovative accessories at the same pace in the coming months.
